it is summer. i have taken the time and the liberty to compile a summer playlist. excuse me, the ultimate summer playlist.
pant sweat, knee sweat, beard sweat, sunburn, hot feat, sticky leather seats, melted chocolate, harsh tan lines, crocodiles. all down falls of summer. however, the music of summer nearly makes it all worth it.

about a month and a half ago i drove twelve [12] hours to go see my sweet maria. in order to stay awake i purchased two four packs of red bull and bought these two albums. needless to say, i am still alive, thanks in large part, to these two songs.

a couple of days ago i was on last.fm looking at a list of artists i was supposed to like. while snoopin around, i found this guy, jacob borshard. he’s a cross of jens lekman and steve martin singing on the beach in the jerk. but a little cuter.

the summer lauren and i worked at ridgecrest was somewhat of a teitur summer. as we were cooped up in that dungeon making crappy videos, one of the only things i remember was drinking cheerwine, watching arrested development and listening to teitur. here’s a sweet little song.

this song really has no place in this list. but for some reason when i heard it, it really brought back memories of summer nights in high school. running around with my friends, hoping i was being funny enough and hoping i was bad ass enough for maybe one girl to notice me. i was never either.

this one is pretty much the story of my summer. a little different than i expected, but absolutely beautiful. and something i want to be around all the time.

there have been a lot of seasons of musical taste in my life. but probably the most definitive was the summer before college. i knew about sufjan a while before that, but never really learned to enjoy him until i was kind of on my own. then we fell in love.
10.sufjan stevens//he woke me up again
the summer after my freshman year i worked at camp. making videos. then that was over and i decided i wanted to go see my good friend and roomy to be chris. so i hitched a ride with my friends from high school, barrett and will. i made a cd for chris earlier that year with this song on it, and when he picked me up the first time, we listened to this song.

the summer before college scorcese had just finished his documentary on bob dylan. thus began my obsession. i remember watching it upstairs with mr. stack on pbs. awkard.

this really has no business being in this playlist, but it made it anyway.
13.owen//breaking away
i kind of knew i was not going to be friends with many people from high school after i graduated. but the summer after i graduated, i hung out with two girls. one of which was dating eric skelton. he was insanely talented and way too cool for her. if you are reading this, i’m sorry, but you probably already knew that was true.
