in 2008, 11 students loaded up in a subaru and a ford explorer with a u-haul trailer hitched to the back and headed from savannah, ga to new mexico. they were in search of vast landscapes, inspiring expanses of land and the romance of the infinite road.
over two weeks, under my vision, the team crafted a simple but striking narrative of survival, the human condition and hope versus reality. the process was difficult. the wind chilled down to the bone. each member of the crew hit their limit. tempers flared, but art was created.
what came out of those two weeks was a film we were all proud to be a part of.
it premiered at the SCAD student showcase and swept the award show, taking home best narrative, best director, best cinematography and best sound. it then screened at the savannah film festival and the kino festival and was chosen as a vimeo “staff pick” and recieved nearly 30 thousand views.

before production even began, i put together a mood piece when i was pitching the film to my classmates. for months i was consumed with woody guthrie, pare lorentz, anything dust bowl or 1930’s. obsessed would not be an overstatement. these were the first visuals given to my vision for this film:
here is the trailer:
